SMALL GRAINS AND OTHER FIELD CROPS: The cotton fields are cultivated and irrigated. Corn, alfalfa, cotton and silage grow with lots of irrigation and very hot triple digit weather. The corn silage harvest continues in various parts of the county. Summer row crops seem to be going well. Sudan grass is cut, dried and baled. Alfalfa is windrowed, raked and baled. Bean fields continue to be treated for weeds and insects. Dried beans are exported to Guadeloupe and Saint Lucia.
FRUITS OF LEAVY TREE, NUTS AND GRAPES: Walnuts, almonds and pistachios continue to grow with the ongoing almond harvest. Table grapes are sent to Vietnam, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Dominican Republic, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Cambodia. Plums, nectarines and peaches are still being picked, and orchard surveys for Mexican certifications are still active. The plum harvest is still strong with exports to British Columbia and Mexico, with strong domestic sales. A small number of pear orders are packaged and shipped to Canada for export. The kiwis are growing and some vines are shaded. Pistachios are shipped to India, Spain, China, United Arab Emirates, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Vietnam, Turkey, Morocco, France, Mexico, in Thailand and Israel. Almond exports are shipped to Korea, Japan, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, China, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, India, Thailand, Panama, Norway, Sweden and Germany. Pecans are exported to the Middle East, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Italy and Singapore. The nuts are exported to Turkey. Pomegranate fruit is ripening and getting closer to harvest.
